Daniel O’Donnell

KSMQ took another terrific bus trip last night and this time we went to see the great Daniel O’Donnell at the Target Center in Minneapolis. He performed for three whole hours. It was a wonderful concert and as always Mary Duff joined him to sing some special duets and she performed some new songs from her brand new spritual album. KSMQ had over 50 members join us for this trip, thank you to everyone who joined us for this special night. Stay tuned to learn more about other upcoming concerts and bus trips in our area.

Today we interviewed such an interesting gentleman from Austin. He twists names out of electrical wire.
We also booked a great band, Relentless, for an upcoming interview. This country band plays locally in the summer, then travels all over the country in the winter.
Summer is almost over, so we are looking for great ‘indoor’ story ideas. We’d like to hear from you. If you have one, please send it to me at: stephanie@ksmq.org

A Movie Not To Be Missed this week on KSMQ

If you have never seen the 1996 film “Lonestar” written by John Sayles and starring Chris Cooper, be sure to catch it this Sunday night at 7:00 on KSMQ Cinema Classics. There is also a repeat broadcast on Sunday, August 23rd at 2pm. Let me know if you are as surprised by the “secret” as I was.

Tea Time!

We at KSMQ are really excited about an upcoming event happening September 26th at 2pm at the Hormel Historic Home here in Austin. It’s the KSMQ British Comedy Society Afternoon Tea and is open to all members of KSMQ. Seating is limited so if you are interested in attending , click here for the details. I really hope I see you there. And remember to wear your hat!
P.S. We are looking for china tea cups, saucers and plates. If you have any to sell (they don’t have to match), contact Shirley here at KSMQ at 507-433-0678. And keep in mind we’re a not-for-profit organization so we can’t pay a lot for them! Thanks!

Bon Appetit!
Have you seen the movie “Julie and Julia” yet? I’m looking forward to it as I’m a big fan of both Meryl Streep and Amy Adams. I have also been enjoying all the conversation that has ensued about cooking as perhaps “a lost art” and I hope it inspires all of us to get into the kitchen, dust off the cookbooks and mixing bowls, and dive into creating a Coq au Vin or Boeuf Bourguignon. And to offer even more inspiration, be sure to tune in to KSMQ this Thursday night at 7pm for “Julia Child’s Kitchen Wisdom”. And don’t miss “Julia Child Memories: Bon Appetit!” coming up on Saturday, September 12th at 10:30am.
