Austin Noon Kiwanis Sign-on As Education Partner with KSMQ

I proudly accepted a check from the Austin Noon Kiwanis Club in support of KSMQ’s Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators Contest. “Children, Priority One” is the focus of the Austin Noon Kiwanis so this is a perfect collaboration. The Kiwanis Club’s contribution will underwrite the prizes and celebration for the contest entrants.
Making the check presentation are Kiwanis member Jean McDermott, Neveln Elementary Principal and Laura Tjomsland, President of Austin Noon Kiwanis.
Thanks Kiwanis! You rock!

As the representative of KSMQ, I was proud to travel to Washington DC last Saturday to receive a My Source Community Impact Award for Education at the Council of Chief State School Officers/Public Broadcasting Executive Summit hosted by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting. The award was in recognition of KSMQ’s spot campaign which features local residents relating why PBS is their source for quality television.
Tim Gassman of the KSMQ staff was the producer. I am pictured with Patricia Harrison, President/CEO of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and Dr. Susan Zelman, Senior Vice President, Education & Children’s Content, CPB.
